US, Mexico Mining Researchers Forge Collaborations

UA professor of chemical and environmental engineering Jim Field presents research on biochemical processes to extract valuable tellurium from copper mine waste.

In advance of the opening of the Center for Mexican Studies, a joint program of the University of Arizona and National Autonomous University of Mexico, UA hosted a panel on environmentally sustainable mining. Scientists and engineers – including mining engineers – discussed ways to share information and make mining more environmentally and socially responsible.
